BMW M760Li Takes On the Mighty Mercedes-AMG S63

The BMW M760Li xDrive isn’t the M7 people have been waiting to happen for years, but it is still exceptionally fast. So fast, in fact, that it can actually challenge a Mercedes-AMG S63 in a straight-line. AutoTopNL recently had the chance to drive the duo side-by-side on the Autobahn and have synced runs of the two luxury super sedans accelerating up to 315 km/h (196 mph). What makes the range-topping 7-Series such a formidable rival is its twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 that pumps out 592 hp at 5500 rpm and 590 lb-ft of torque at 1500 rpm. Additionally, it features an M-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. Surprisingly, the M760Li is not that far behind the mighty S63 AMG that, with 603 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, clearly has the upper hand when it comes to performance. Even so, throughout most of the run, it's within 5-10 km/h of its performance-focused foe from Stuttgart. Not bad for something that’s not a true M car. (Source: Brad Anderson - Carscoops)
